Access to birdwatching sites

Over 10 kilometers of trails to be explored by bicycle, on foot or on horseback . . . The water purification basins also attract many birds.

The site

This vast park on the Coaticook River is a popular tourist attraction. Its diverse forests provide habitat for a number of bird species.

The site has a number of well-maintained trails. A visit to the Coaticook Gorge Park, for either a day trip or an extended stay in the campground, makes the perfect family outing.

Birds to watch for

The mountain bike trails are great places to watch for forest birds. The water purification ponds are particularly attractive to different species of shorebirds. An observation tower has been built for greater visibility. The Solitary Sandpiper, the Spotted Sandpiper, the Lesser Yellowlegs, the Least Sandpiper, and the Killdeer among others, have been sighted here. Turkey Vultures seem to have a decided preference for this place—a group of 61 of these birds has been spotted here!
